Circuit

A competition circuit is a series of tournaments and rankings that are organized and conducted with a specific purpose, usually to determine a champion or to qualify players for a grand final.

A circuit can be organized in seasons, regions and tiers. It can include tournaments from different disciplines or be based on only one discipline. It also manages rankings calculated from the results of the tournaments.

Season

A season represents a period of time that allows the circuit to be segmented into several periods, usually to reset the competition in a cyclic way.

Region

A region represents a geographical area that allows the circuit to be segmented into several competition zones, usually to make it easier to compete in more favorable areas.

Tier

A tier represents a level of competition that allows the circuit to be segmented into several groups of tournaments with a similar skill level or importance.

A circuit ranking is a ranking that is built using the results of certain tournaments. A calculation system can be configured to specify how points are awarded and how the ranking is calculated.

Discipline

A circuit ranking can only concern results and competitions in a single discipline to ensure that it ranks comparable performances.

Participant type

A circuit ranking can only concern results and competitions played with the same participant type. It is either a players ranking or a teams ranking.

Classification

A circuit ranking includes, by default, all tournaments for the given discipline. It can optionally be configured to include only tournaments from a single season and/or a single region.

Points

The points system awards points based on the final standing of each tournament. A points scale can be configured to define the points awarded based on the rank of each competitor. It is also possible to configure a specific points scale to apply only on tournaments from a given tier.

Example of a points scale: 1st=200, 2nd=100, 3rd-4th=50, 5th-8th=20
